On Wednesday the 28th of November our class participated in their very first Mystery Skype call with another class somewhere in Australia. We knew the other class was in Australia because their teacher issued the invitation to Skype through a comment on our blog. She used the phrase in her sign off for the comment.
We invited the other class to toss a coin to decide who asked the first question and called tails. Unfortunately for us the toss was heads so we had to answer the first question. The first few questions we had to answer yes but soon it was our turn to ask and we started to narrow the location down to somewhere in Victoria.
After that it got harder and some of us got distracted or frustrated with trying to locate our fellow Skypers. We found that Google maps was useful but that we needed to think carefully about the search terms we used. Mrs S had brought in a small road atlas from home and this was very useful. She wishes that we had a bigger one in the classroom all the time.
We got closer and closer but so did the other class and they worked out our location just one or two questions before us. Thanks very much to Miss Crowther and 3/4C for giving us clues and helping us to guess your location at Upper Plenty in Victoria. Did you know that Tasmania has a town called Plenty as well?
What other ways could we have tried to track down our Mystery Class? Please leave a comment with some suggestions.
